More
than 40 years ago, community leaders in the Mon Valley had the foresight
to create the Mon Valley Health and Welfare Authority. At that time,
the purpose of the Authority was to build a facility that would
serve as a 'one stop shop' for the health and welfare needs of the
residents of the region.

The
original, two story structure opened in 1971.
Services at the facility quickly expanded and with encouragement from
local leaders, the Mon Valley Health and Welfare Authority expanded
the building to it's present size by adding two floors. |

In
the 1980's, with continued expansion of services, the Authority
purchased Eastgate 11, which is across the street from the main
health center building.
